Pysanka Egg

I’ve been unable to get to the beach since it’s been so cold recently!  I was able to try a new, fun activity at Chesterton Art Center, Chestertonart.com.   I learned how to make my first Pysanka egg! Mary Acton is a great teacher with so much knowledge of the process. From Wikipedia: “A pysanka (Ukrainian: писанка, plural: pysanky) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist…

A Rare Find

Before picking them up to examine, I like to photograph unusual or rare items just as they lay on the beach. I thought to myself: “This looks suspiciously like a RED piece!” And it was. Happy dance right there!

A Three Hour Tour

Unlike the fateful trip that Gilligan and his friends endured, I was recently able to enjoy a three hour boat tour leaving the Michigan City, Indiana dock with a group of friends. It was a beautiful, windy evening with a backdrop of colorful and interesting clouds. I don’t normally get to see the lake from the water-side….I’m usually on the shoreline! It was a nice change of pace.

Drama on the Beach!

We experienced an amazingly dramatic sky while in Florida recently. It was evident that it was raining over the water, yet the rays of sun cut through the darkness. We never had to leave the beach. The storm simply moved on by!

Barrier Island fun

Had a great time on a barrier island in Florida in the Gulf. It’s good to see the Sea Turtles getting a bit of assistance and protection. This is a wonderful sign to see on the beach: “Sea Turtle Nest”!!

Pacific Coast, Part 4

Okay, so not exactly the coast, but still part of our trip to California! We were fortunate to visit Yosemite National Park. This photo shows the major three landmarks seen in Yosemite Valley: El Capitan (left), Half Dome and Bridalveil Fall (right).

Enjoy Your Independence!

I’m wishing for a wonderful, safe 4th of July for you and your loved ones. What could be more American than corn cobs from Indiana painted to represent our beloved flag?! (Apparently I did this when I had nothing but time on my hands!!)

Thank You For Your Service!

As we pause to celebrate on this Memorial Day Weekend, may we remember those in the Service that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thanks to all the family members that spent time in the military, making sure we have the right to live life as we wish. Additional thanks to those currently in the military, ensuring all of us these continued freedoms. God bless all of you!
