Pysanka Egg

I’ve been unable to get to the beach since it’s been so cold recently!  I was able to try a new, fun activity at Chesterton Art Center, Chestertonart.com.   I learned how to make my first Pysanka egg! Mary Acton is a great teacher with so much knowledge of the process. From Wikipedia: “A pysanka (Ukrainian: писанка, plural: pysanky) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, “to write” or “to in scribe”, as the designs are not painted on, but written (inscribed) with beeswax.” It takes a steady hand.  I also learned that one should NOT tip the wax writing tool (Kistka) sideways…….that hot wax can, and WILL, blister your knuckle!!
